School Improvement
'Education is for improving the lives of others and
for leaving your community and world better than you found it.'
- Marian Wright Edelman
Our school priorities this year, are as follows:
1. To ensure that all staff have on-going opportunities to develop professionally, resulting in excellent teaching and learning and succession planning for the school.
2. a. In light of exceptionally high pupil mobility, to ensure that high quality ‘keep up’ and ‘catch up’ phonics is timely, so that quick intervention results in pupils making accelerated progress through the phonics programme.
b. To equip all staff with expert knowledge and understanding of reading comprehension strategies, enabling learners to be equipped with techniques which they apply to a range of texts.
3. To further enhance teachers’ and leaders’ confidence in tailoring learning to pupil’s existing knowledge; basing next steps and responsive teaching on precise assessment and not assumption.
4. a. To continue to ensure that all stakeholders promote understanding and respect for diversity; and to use a framework to develop a whole school anti-racist approach.
b. To ensure that there is a strong culture of SMSC, which permeates every classroom and through the school; this is supported and articulated by all leaders and is visible in day-to-day decisions, relationships and climate.
c. To ensure swift ‘support first’ action from all staff, followed by timely and rigorous monitoring by attendance champions and school systems, to ensure good attendance patterns by all pupils.
