Proposed Academy Conversion

The governing body of Farnham Green Primary School began considering the merits of conversion to an academy in the summer of 2016. In September 2016 the school was again rated ‘Requires Improvement’ by Ofsted. Working closely with Ray Lodge Primary School, Farnham Green is establishing partnerships to ensure that all children, irrespective of where they live, can have the highest possible standard of education. Governors believe it is the right time to formalise such partnerships so that moving forward the school can continue to improve, can be financially sustainable and be the hub of a multi-academy Trust within Redbridge.

We have now reached the point that we need to seek the views of the local community, parents, pupils and staff on this proposal. We will be running a consultation process from 12th June 2017 to 14th July 2017 to both help you understand what is being proposed and to gather your views.

Meetings are scheduled which will consist of a brief explanation about what academy status would mean for Farnham Green Primary School, followed by a question and answer session. Representatives from the school's Governing Body will also be in attendance. The details of the meetings are as follows :

  • Monday 3rd July 2017 at 8.30am and 7pm for parents and residents/community, in the Olympic Hall
  • Monday 3rd July 2017 at 10.30am, 1.30pm, 3.30pm for staff in the ICT Suite
  • Monday 10th July from 3.30pm to 7.30pm as an informal drop-in session for parents, staff and the community to ask any question, in Olympic Hall

It is essential that we gather as many views and opinions as possible, and answer any questions as part of the consultation process.

We understand that some staff, parents, carers and other members of the community may not be able to attend the meeting so we have added a link to the Consultation leaflet below which provides information about some of the questions you may have. We have also provided a link below for respondents to provide feedback via an online form.

We look forward to hearing from you and receiving your feedback.
